Meet Oliver Smith | CutzByOli

Hey, I'm Oliver Smith, the barber behind CutzByOli.

My journey into barbering started three years ago while I was visiting a friend in Brazil. I found myself watching barbering videos on TikTok and thought, why not give it a shot? I ordered my first set of clippers to my house, and when I got home, one of my friends trusted me enough to let me practice on him. What started as a random interest quickly turned into something I'm genuinely passionate about.

Since then, I've spent the past three years developing my skills, including a year working at Visions Hair Studio in Whitby. During my time there, I was fortunate enough to learn from Marc-Anthony and Robert Blackburn, who taught me a lot about both barbering and the industry. I also completed an eight-week paid training course with them, along with additional training in scissor work through Dodi's Opus course.

While tapers are one of my specialties, I take pride in being a versatile barber. To me, a great haircut isn't just about how clean the fade is. It's about understanding what each client wants, helping them find a style that suits them, and making sure they leave the chair feeling confident.

At 17, I know I still have a lot to learn, and that's something that motivates me every day. My goal with CutzByOli isn't just to build a client list. It's to build genuine relationships with people who trust me with their hair and look forward to coming back.

My faith is a big part of who I am, and I carry my Christian values into everything I do through honesty, humility, and a commitment to giving my best in everything I put my name on.

To me, barbering is a way to serve others. When you sit in my chair, you're not just a slot on the schedule. You get my honest advice, genuine care, and my absolute best work.
